Learning Disability
Qualifications (LDQ)
What is LDQ?
- The LDQ Induction Award is the qualification that all new workers to learning disabiity services must achieve within the first 12 weeks of starting a new job (as specified by Skills for Care).
- There are currently four awarding bodies who are able to offer this award. These are City and Guilds, Open College Network, Edexcel and Education Development International. Each awarding body works through an LDQ Centre. The LDQ Centre coordinates all assessment processes and oversees the standardisation (as in the NVQ Centre model). Organisations may choose to set up their own LDQ Centre or work through an existing centre.
What is the TASS UK LDQ Centre?
TASS UK is one of the largest national LDQ Centres in
the UK. TASS UK has registered and supported more than
11,000 learners through LDAF and LDQ since the company
was set up in 2003.
The TASS UK LDQ Centre registers the learners with their chosen awarding body and then provides all marking, verification and standardisation services plus helpline support, progress summaries and qualification updates.
How do new workers get the LDQ Award through TASS UK?
All new workers will first need to do an induction training that is approved by a LDQ Centre. There are two training options through the TASS UK LDQ Centre:
1. Purchase training that has already been approved
- TASS UK can provide you with ready approved training programmes from ARC in a distance learning or trainer's manual format. Both programmes are clearly mapped to LDQ at level 2 and 3 as well as NVQ and the new European Care Certificate
- TASS UK are able to approve an organisation's own induction training programme for LDQ. Once a training programme is approved, learners can be registered and processed through the TASS UK Centre.
